Huge thanks to Denise Fordham, Library Technician, and the students at Holy Angels Catholic School for a wonderful visit! I had the incredible opportunity to talk to 160 students in grades 4-6 about my new book, Building Homes for All: Technology for a Fair and Green Planet.

The students were deeply engaged and asked thoughtful, interesting questions, especially about 3D construction printing. It's always inspiring to see young people thinking critically about sustainability and innovation, and how we can build a more equitable future.

Huge thanks to @uoftsr for the opportunity to host a booth at the annual University of Toronto Science Rendezvous! This year’s theme was IGNITE! My booth, Igniting Curiosity with STEAM Nonfiction: From Books to Building Homes for All, featured my new book— Building Homes for All: Technology for a Fair and Green Planet .
Want innovative ideas for sustainable housing? Ask kids! I was blown away by their responses to the “Question Sparks” & “Career Sparks” activities. Here’s a glimpse of their creativity:
“What new invention could help fight climate change on construction sites?”
→ “A giant, solar-powered air purifier that absorbs unhealthy gases.”
“How would you design a home that helps a planet?”
→One student sketched a home built with oxygen atoms!
"What career would you choose and why?"
→ "A scientist who invents eco-friendly materials because I want to make a difference."
STEAM books are true fire-starters—sparking curiosity, big questions, and real-world problem-solving. They show kids that even complex challenges have solutions—and their ideas matter. Perhaps these books will even inspire them to pursue a STEAM career!

A huge thank you to the organizers and students! As a children's author, it's such a meaningful experience to participate in this event and meet students from abroad. The kids were really engaged and had prepared thoughtful questions as we chatted about my two books - Building Homes for All: Technology for a Fair and Green Planet and Superpower? The Wearable-Tech Revolution. Thank you WRAD and kudos to the teachers and librarians for preparing the kids so well!

The festival is an incredibly fun and engaging opportunity for families to learn about the latest STEM inventions and to inspire kids. This is the second year that STEM authors were invited to join this exciting event. I was so thrilled to participate alongside award-winning authors Rochelle Strauss, Lindsey Carmichael, and Ishta Mercurio!
